DCSF Support Programs
In coordination with the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) NYAP offers a variety of supportive programs for those families whose cases are currently managed by DCFS. All DCFS support programs are designed to stabilize the family and empower them to create environments that keep children and youth safe in their homes with their families.
Youth Housing
For youth under 21 who are transitioning out of DCSF care may be referred to the following:
Housing advocacy which assists youth in securing housing, financial literacy, and community services.
Cash assistance to assist with funding for various housing related expenses.
Norman Services
Norman Services provides help to eligible DCFS families who are either at risk of having their children and youth removed from their home or to assist families with reunification.
Housing Advocacy Program provides a worker who assists families in obtaining safe and stable housing.
Emergency Cash Assistance Program assists families in obtaining items needed to keep their children and youth in the family’s care.
Extended Family Support Program
For families with no current open case with DCFS, Extended Family Support Program can provide short-term services to families to support them in the following ways:
Obtaining private guardianship or the child-only funds.'
Enrolling children and youth in school.
Funding to assist with covering basic goods that will maintain a stable home.
