School-Based Counseling

NYAP aims to create spaces and opportunities for our youth to thrive wherever they are – including while they are in school. NYAP’s school-based counseling programs build partnerships with schools, and in doing so, help create meaningful solutions for children, youth, and families.

NYAP provides each contracted school with a clinician to help de-escalate and address behavior-related issues in the classroom. This service is a Medicaid-funded program provided at no cost to the school. Services may also be covered by families who wish to pay privately.

Services available:

  • ·Mental health assessment.

  • On-site individual therapy.

  • Clinical case staffing.

  • Outreach to student families.

  • Family counseling.

  • Linkage to other community resources.

Services offered for:

  • Anxiety.

  • Trauma-related issues.

  • ADHD/ADD.

  • Anger management.

  • Disrespect to teachers or peers.

  • Depression and suicidal ideation.
