School-Based Counseling
NYAP aims to create spaces and opportunities for our youth to thrive wherever they are – including while they are in school. NYAP’s school-based counseling programs build partnerships with schools, and in doing so, help create meaningful solutions for children, youth, and families.
NYAP provides each contracted school with a clinician to help de-escalate and address behavior-related issues in the classroom. This service is a Medicaid-funded program provided at no cost to the school. Services may also be covered by families who wish to pay privately.

On-site individual therapy.
Clinical case staffing.
Outreach to student families.
Family counseling.
Linkage to other community resources.
Services offered for:
Anxiety.
Trauma-related issues.
ADHD/ADD.
Anger management.
Disrespect to teachers or peers.
Depression and suicidal ideation.
